The Strength of a dry laid stone work lies in the careful positioning of its stones making full use of their weight and the friction between the surfaces without the use of mortar.

There are many regional styles of walling which were created due to the local geology and needs of the inhabitants whether to enclose live stock, a home stead, set property boundaries, bridges, and countless other purposes.

At some point in ones life without even knowing...you will have gazed upon a dry laid stone wall with a sense of intrigue and awe, asking yourself how long has it been there for? How did they build that and why? Well...at least that's what Scott Young had asked himself and intrigued him to become a stonemason along with his love for stones.

A stone wall reflects the personality of the builder showing you their patience, dedication, attention to detail, and as well as a sense of humor. Perseverance is the will to lay a stone knowing there is only several thousand more to go.
